Hi, I’m Sophie
BSc (Hons) Acupuncture, LicAc, MBAcC,
BSc (Hons) Psychology.
I’m an experienced acupuncturist, creative professional and (mostly) wise human based in Tufnell Park and Highgate, North London.
I’ve worked in holistic health for over 14 years, and in creative industries for more than 20. My lifelong passion is understanding how our brains and bodies work, so we can feel more in control of our health and happiness.
My Story
In my 20s, I was hurtling along London’s fast lane, chasing a creative career in adland, burning the candle at both ends. It was a completely different world from my countryside roots, which unbeknown to me, steadied my nervous system on a daily basis.
From the outside I looked fine. Yet inside, I was sometimes anxious and exhausted without fully registering it, and living with chronic neck and shoulder pain.
Acupuncture changed everything for me, it brought calm, clarity and relief. That personal shift became the foundation of the work I now do every day.
My background helps me understand the creative drive, ambition, the deadlines, the performance pressure combined with fun on tap. In many ways it’s exhilarating, but it’s also a lot for our system.
My Acupuncture Practice
I love working with people who are navigating big life transitions such as fertility, perimenopause, burnout and career crossroads. I support your nervous system with acupuncture or acupressure, and guide you with practical wellbeing tools to help you feel more grounded, inspired and focused.
Every treatment is tailored to you. We talk, we laugh, sometimes cry, and we work gently with a personalised mix of acupuncture, ideas, conversation and care. I believe movement, nutrition, creative expression and good relationships are essential to wellbeing, so I’ll always encourage deep, do-able self-care.
My Training
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM), the UK’s leading acupuncture school, where I trained in both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element acupuncture. I’m a fully licensed acupuncturist and a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).
I also have degree in Psychology from the University of Northumbria. My long-standing interest how we think, feel, cope and connect adds depth to my work. It means I weave ancient acupuncture wisdom with a modern understanding of stress, hormones and the nervous system.
Creatively, I began with an art foundation course, followed by a Postgrad Diploma in Art Direction & Copywriting at Watford, and over the years many of London’s brilliant part-time painting and drawing classes.
A Creative Process
Most creative people find they need to express themselves as much as a necessity as a joy — a way to process thoughts and feelings and give them a place in the world.
Many creative professions demand that we deliver on a brief — which can be more problem solving than creative expression, so can leave us feeling frustrated or flat. And there are plenty of people that suffer because they need a creative outlet, yet have jobs or lives that leave little space for it.
About five years ago, literally on top of a mountain, I realised I hadn’t created something just for me in years. I promised myself I’d make art before a significant birthday. Here I am!
I now make time for drawing and painting as part of my lifestyle. It helps keep me healthy and happy, and it’s where I enter flow state — completely absorbed, making instinctive decisions, and finishing feeling energised and grounded.
In my clinic I work with people who’ve hit a block and want to reconnect with their ideas and passion — whether they’re creative professionals or haven’t had chance to express themselves since year dot.
That might mean those burnt out by life’s demands or those simply looking for a non-judgmental way to start to create again. For me, self-expression is therapy as much as creativity. It’s always about the process, and sometimes never about a finished piece.
